Steve,
What I mean is that if you drive in OD, the OD is switched of/disengaged 
if you put your foot down to accelerate e.g. when overtaking, 
effectively dropping a cog. When regaining the original speed the OD is 
switched on again.
At least that is the way it worked on the AH of a former colleague of mine.
