Dean's car was from Johnny Von Neumann's Competition Motors, whose mechanic,
Rolf Wutherich, survived the "Lil Bastard's" crash.

Gee whiz, right on the main point, wrong on the supporting details, as I
learned when I was looking through some other references. Chic Vandagriff did,
in fact, run Hollywood Sport Cars, but it wasn't opened until 1960. Don't
know where the connection with James Dean came from. Chic opened Hollywood
Sport Cars as a dealer for Gough Industries. The full story can be found in a
reprint of a 1991 article from the VARA publication Vintage Voice, posted on
