One suggestion for those having difficulties keeping flange gaskets in
place is to ensure that your car's flex pipes are in good shape and still
"flex".
If the flex sections are rigid the entire exhaust system must rock and roll
with the movement of the engine on its mounts. The weight of the system is
so great that something has to give and it is usually the flange joint.
