If the float needle/seat leaks I can understand that the fuel level in the =
float bowl could rise & that would affect the idle & mixture. However, if t=
hey are not leaking & assuming your float bowels are correctly vented, I do=
 not see any way that the pressure of the pump (if it is within factory spe=
cifications) would affect the "float buoyancy". The pressure in the float b=

educing the pressure makes a considerable difference. Both cars need to run=
 on choke for longer after cold start and both have a stable and repeatable=
 =C2=A0idle speed and at running temperature. Both also have new needle and=
 seats in the carbs and set correctly. I=E2=80=99m not saying they necessar=
ily leak but I do think the extra pressure causes a higher fuel level at id=
le simply due to float buoyancy and very little fuel being used. In the end=
 what good is more pressure than you need? As long as you get enough flow y=
