Not sure about the Aussies, but I'd guess that they'd use standard issue BMC
paint. Or perhaps the engines arrived already painted.

The kit Minis made in S.Ireland had the same colour engines as those in the
UK so..

I do know that I bought a can of Moss (Europe) brush/spray engine paint
about 5 years ago. It seemed about right.a good match to what was already
there. So, late last year I bought another can. It was darker - not dark
Morris green, but darker. Same can, same label etc. Not a perfect match.

About a week ago I bought a spray can from Ahead4Healeys. It too was darker,
more or less a match for the second Moss can.

Maybe its my eyesight or we're moving towards the Dark Side.

Simon

Speaking of Healey engine paint does anyone know if the Aussies used the
same color on the Morris engines that went into the Mini Cooper
knock-down-kits assembled in Australia in the 1960s? I have both Healeys
and Minis and from pics and a few engine parts that I have seen the engine
paint hue and chroma looks very close to Healey engine green.

Hello,

I have used the POR Austin Healey Green. A picture of the SKU number is
attached. It is an excellent product but the shade of green is slightly
darker than other Healey Green I have seen.

Regards,

Harold

Their color chip looks like Morris green, but I haven't purchased it. Bill
Hirsch makes a high-quality engine enamel that is spot on for big Healey
engine green:

Hi Jim,
POR used to make the light metallic green Healey engine paint, I used it on
my 3000 20 years ago. I tried to buy some recently, but the Australian
distributor said it was discontinued. I'm unsure whether he meant they
didn't import it, or POR stopped making it.
But POR did make a light metallic green engine paint 20 years ago
Best
Chris
