Just tap the steel ring in the overdrive with your knock off hammer to relea=

Works every time. For me anyway.=20
The springs release the overdrive, and sometimes, they get just get stuck.=20=

It's a mystery of the world.=20
But a few taps on that steel plate seems to realign the planets. And release=
 those pesky springs!
Allegedly.=20
Worked for me. 3 times in the past 35 years. Mostly when I'd driven the car h=
ard.=20
But it seems to fix the issue, when you can't select reverse.=20
And it's so much easier on the bench, than on your back, lying under the car=
!=20
