I think Kent's solution is the best idea.  First, AM radio is mostly talk
and not in stereo.  FM, while in stereo, is dependent on how close you are
to the station.  You'll need to drill a hole in your fender to route an
antenna.  With a bluetooth smartphone equipped with Spotify, Pandora or
Sirius, she can listen to anything she wants at any time without being at
the mercy of programming and with paid subscriptions entirely do away with
commercials.  I have a Bluetooth hookup on my Becker Europa II Stereo radio
and I don't even listen to the radio anymore, just Spotify.  If the radio
installation wasn't already in the car, I would just do as Kent suggests.
