Good thing the BJ8 used the nylon bush because it is the only one =
available from Moss etc. because I needed to replace it in my =
transmission. With the new nylon bush a little lithium grease on the big =
ball and tightening the screws I can shift more easily for the first =
time in years. Not for me, but, for the record does anyone know where =
to by the brass bush with circle clip?

Lets be careful here. We have others who have been stuck in gear or =
without gears. The nylon bush is only used on the BJ8. The brass bush =
is used on the MK II gearbox, which includes the BJ7. The BJ7 is =
actually a MK II Healey. The shift levers are different as well. Here =
are the numbers from the parts book:

=20

BJ7 lever AEC8636, Bush-brass AEC 3520 (1 pr.) Circlip 1G3709- this =
comes as a set. Roll pins (2) AEA558. Circlip hold two halves of bush =
together.

=20

BJ8 lever 22B195-non/OD. Lever AEC3636 w/OD. Lever Bush 22B191 (nylon). =
Roll Pin AEA558 This arrangement starts with: GB 101-118 wo/OD, 101-1441 =
w/OD

=20

What will happen if you use the nylon bush in the MKII GB, is that after =
a few shifts the nylon will get mangled and there goes your gears.

MKIII Nylon- do not substitute. Hank

Pretty sure that the only change was the size of the ball upon which the =
nylon bush rotates HOWEVER there is a complication ... there are nylon =
bushes, from an MGB as I recall, which can be used with the lever with =
the smaller ball end.=20

Hi,

I have a late Mk II BT7. Centre change. So, my query is regarding the =
gearstick.

The box is a BMC Goldseal replacement per the attached picture.

The stick has the two roll pins securing it which you=E2=80=99d expect =
up to BJ8s which, I gather, had screws. But the bush under the stick in =
the white nylon one which, I gather again, started with BJ8s. (To be =
fair, I=E2=80=99ve looked into this and didn=E2=80=99t find a definitive =
answer on the bushes). My gearbox seems to be a bit of a BT7/BJ8 =
mixture.

My question is can you put a roll-pin gearstick into a BJ8? Or =
vice-verca?

Thanks,

Simon
