Jon, I think I have the answer to your question. Last month, after our local
Corvette club meeting, a friend recounted this tale over a brew at the local
Pub.... He had been racing his 2001 Z06 at a local "open track" event, and the
car lost oil pressure. He trailered it to the local Chevy dealership, described
the problem, and dropped the car off. The next day, the GM District Rep. called
&
said his warrenty was void because he had been racing his car. He charged down
to
the Chevy dealer and confronted the guy with the question "how do you know what
I
do with this car?" Then the real shocker: The GM guy opened his briefcase and
produced a loose-leaf binder with all of Steve's racing results for the past
couple of years!!!!!!!!! Steve asked him where he got all that & the answer was
"we have people that do nothing but search the internet for race results" To
make
a long story short, he went through Corporate & got his car fixed. Meanwhile,
another fellow at the table (he had recently blown up his Z06 in a high-speed
autocross) chimed in & said he had run into the same thing!! After taking his
car
to the Dealership he too was later contacted & told his warrenty was void. He
eventually made a deal to pay for 1/2 the cost of the repairs. Point here is he
too was "caught" by the "internet police" So don't blame SCTA or USFRA if you
get
caught being a "racer" by your insurance company, blame it on the company
"spies"

name. Hit "enter" and be prepared to be surprised!
