There was a car built in 1904 that had a push button, semi-automatic
transmission.  It also had a "heart attack button" the driver held down that
put on the brakes if released.  Stan Wanlass said he didn't remember the
make off-hand but can look it up if necessary.

There is an Owen Magnetic in Salt Lake City area.  The car had an
independent suspension as well as the auto transmission.  Years ahead of
it's time.
