I think it is for crankcase evacuation, and the valve thingys should look
like the ones on an air injection pipe going into a stock manifold. They are
just check valves to keep exhaust gas from going the 'wrong' way. You should
be able to get some breather caps that will plug into your valve covers that
have a connection for a hose. I think I used ones for a chrysler of some
sort, but they probably have aftermarket too.
