Glen;

The first car to flip over backwards was driven by British driver Hugh
Dibbly (sp?). He was accelerating hard as he crested a rise in the road and
the rear wheel torque combined with the loss of downforce on the nose caused
the nose to raise; that created lift-- the nose went up further creating
more lift...etc. Over backwards he went, the stunt known thereafter as
"doing a Dibbly".

There are some astounding videos of a Mercedes (and others) doing the same
thing. Fortunatey, on a hard flat surface there isn't as much chance of that
happening as on a road course.

I've seen videos of this happening to a hydroplane, too.
