Chain drive must have been the hot set up. Remember the world's first car to
set the record over 200 mph , ahem, SUnbeam, used two big old Matabelle
aircraft engines of 22000 cc each! Yep 44 litres. ANd guess what it used
chain drive and had wire wheels to boot! The two engines were couples
together vis a coupling shaft that ran along side the driver and it had a 3
speed gear box. A whopping 1000 hp...
