If you can keep Norton that's pretty robust and as good as any but
failing that AVG offer a fairly good Freeware virus protection tool:

Other useful tools I use are SpyBot which is also free:

and Ad-Aware which has a free version on the Lavasoft site somewhere:
http://www.lavasoft.com/
If you install both Ad-Aware and Spybot one or the other puts up a
message about the other as being there but this can be ignored, it's not
a problem. You can upgrade both AVG and Ad-Aware for a few $$ but it's
not all that necessary. I'd keep Norton and run the freeware versions of
Ad-Aware and Spybot by preference.
