If I just need a wheel up, I jack under the axle in-board of that wheel
with either the original equipment jack or a floor-jack.
If I want the front of the car up I use my floor-jack at the center of
the TC solid axle. I raise the front end high enough to place
jack-stands under the frame rails forward of the brake master cylinder.
DO NOT work under the car while it is on the floor jack. I have had the
front axle slip off my floor-jack while I was jacking the car up. The
hand brake was set and the axle slipped off the foot of my jack. The
jack caught a tie-rod which then had to be removed and straightened.
If I want the entire car on jack-stands, I raise the front onto the
jack-stands first with the hand brake off. That lets the car roll a
little and avoids pulling the front axle off the floor-jack.
At the back end, I lift the car by the center leg of the spare-tire
bracket where it clamps around the tubular frame member that extends
through the frame rails to form shackle mounts for the rear
leaf-springs. When the rear wheels clear the ground, I set my jack
stands on the frame rails just forward of the Silentbloc-bushings at the
front of the rear leaf-springs.
I too am interested in what other TC folks may have to say on this
subject.

Subject: MG TC jacking
Are there any "special" places for jack placement on my MG TC? As hard
as I looked through the "owner's manual" and the shop manual, I don't
see any references to exact placement of a jack. My thought was to place
my jack at the chassis rails and/or the leaf spring shackles.
Is there a special place for the original equipment jack? How about a
roll-around hydraulic floor jack?
If any listers have any thoughts about this seemingly prosaic question
I'd be happy to hear from them.
