Hi Kelvin,
Thanks, it looks like a pre 72 car is the way to go forward, presumably then I 
could put a 1980/90's era V8 in and not worry about smog.
What's the concensus re for using an MGC as a starting point rather than a MGB? 
 I have heard the MGC is better "balanced" to take the weight of a V8?
