500,000 MGBs can't be wrong ...
The usual reason for adding a white to the ignition wiring of a RB car is
the fitting of an aftermarket ignition system and/or 12v coil by a PO. But
the early RBs with Opus ignition had white and white/blue wires to the
distributor as well as white/light-green wires to the coil.
