After researching different hydrualic throwout bearings for the rebuild
of my 289 Ford TR3A I purchased a Quartermaster. When I did the intial
research I specified to all the manufacturers that I had a Ford T-10
transmission. Quartermaster assured me they had a model that was made
for my T-10.
The last two weeks I have spoken to a man named Mark at Quartermaster
sorting out the math on the bearing. His comment was I was going to be
alright. I repeatedly mentioned that I had the Ford T-10.
At 2:00 PM this afternoon as I set up for the installation measurements
for the hydrualic throwout bearing I went to slip it over the snout of
my transmission. Viola, it would not slide onto the snout. Measurement
quickly revealed a .060 difference in the size of the snout and the
hydrualic throwout bearing ID.
I called Quartermaster and Mark said "Oh yeah, all you have to do is
turn the snout of your transmission down .060." So if your Ford
transmission has a snout that is 1.4375 be aware that the Quartermaster
hydrualic throwout bearing is not manufactured to fit. Apparently they
only make Chevy parts.
