Most adapter plate fittings are 1/2" NPT.  BSP is similar to NPT, but uses
an O-ring in a groove as an additional seal.  AN (SAE) fittings are different
still, these are mostly used on SS braided hoses.  Does the hose from the
cooler have a small groove to seat an O-ring in it?

You probably need either a NPT to BSP adapter, or (if both fittings are NPT)
a reduction bushing and a close nipple.  The best source of information may
be your local plumbing supply store.
