Greg should be right, on the bottom there should be a metal plate with the
timing marks. This plate should have 5 points. Left to Right they are
TDC,5 BTDC,10 BTDC,15 BTDC and 20 BTDC. Static Ignition timing 10 BTDC,
Stroboscopic, Ignition timing 20 BTDC @ 1000 RPM with the vacuum pipe
disconected. Factory recomend setting timing staticly.

>From Bently Manual set static timing as follows

1) Check contact breaker gap setting
(To set rotate crankshaft (enginee) until they are maximumly open
and adjust to between 0.014 and 0.016 in.)

2) rotate cranckshaft until the valves of No 4 are rocking. (ie. exhaust
valve is just closing, intake is just opening). No 1. is at TDC.

3) rotate to correct timing mark.

4) Rotate distributer body conter clockwise until points are closed then
rotate clockwise until points just start to open. Alternativly conect a
12 v ligt between the LT terminal and earth) and with the ignition on
turn the distributer clockwise until the light goes out then turn
clockwise until it just lights.

5) Secure distributer in this posisition.

Hope this helps.
