Transmission Oil

Hello All..

I need to add some oil to my transmission.  (It's getting close to low.)
I've found in the manual where it says the quantity, but not the type.
What is the recommend oil to use?  A friend of mine has a BMW, and said that
he uses Automatic transmission oil in his manual, because when he uses the
recommend oil, it is REALLY hard to shift.
