A friend of mine managed to lash two mountain bikes to the luggage rack
on the back of his MGB, but he needs to paint his car and so wasn't
worried about scratching it or the bikes.
If you have decent paint, those 'one size fits all' bike carriers that attach
to the rear deck are bad news. One thing that might work is a carrier that
mounts on a trailer hitch-- these look as though they would keep the bike(s)
away from the paint. As an added bonus they would be easy to remove and
re-install.
