Ok, I'm considering a trade of my beloved TR8 for a really nice '71 BGT
(it's a long story; don't even ask). I have some questions about the value
of utility of the BGT.

First, the specifics. The car is a '71 with ~50K miles on the odo. New
paint, new interior. "Never any rust" so I'm told. A weber carb, header,
tube shocks, "rare factory sunroof" that has been redone. I don't think it
has overdrive. All in all a very nice car, at first inspection.

The questions: anyone care to submit ballparks on what this car is worth,
assuming the best? I've never really looked into the value of MG's (being a
Triumph man). Looking at cars currently for sale I see '71s going for as
little as $2500, way up to more-than-I-want-to-pay. Price guides put the
value somewhere between $4k and $9k. Quite a range.

Next question: how is the GT as a daily driver? My daily driving amounts to
maybe 50-60 miles per week, so it isn't going to get driven all that much.
What about that top? Are they generally leak-proof (I'm guessing it leaks a
little -- have they ever made a soft top that didn't). How dependable can I
count on the car being?

Finally, what are the inherent weaknesses of the car? Where is it most
prone to rust? Any gotchas under the hood, like recommended timing chain
replacements (like the triumph stag at ~40k miles), propensity to drip
precious bodily fluids, etc?

Thanks for your input.
