Well Bert,
As far as I know, there _are_ no RAL codes for automotive colours, neither
for MGs nor for any other make.
RAL numbers are based on a German standard for _standard_ colours,
that is, if you intend to (re)paint your office furniture (made in Germany..) or
any machine tool or you would like to know the exact colours for traffic
signs,
then you can use RAL numbers to describe the colour exactly.
Car manufacturers, however, tend to develop colours themselves (at least in
our days) and they are NOT standard, so I think it is unlikely that you will
find
a RAL number for car colours.
BTW, industrial machinery like e.g. machine tools are almost always
(at least here in Europe) supplied in a certain green colour (RAL 6011,
resedagruen). I 'm earning my keep by, amongst others, selling a
certain rather specialistic kind of measuring machinery [industrial balancing
machines] for a large Germany-based company here in Holland and Belgium.
Of course, all their machinery had this same green (RAL 6011) colour, as did
the machines made by all their competitors.
One day, about 3..4 years ago, the management decided that all machines
they made would be light blue from that moment on (RAL 5012, himmelblau?
I'm at home now, can't check this) with any other colour as an option, at an
additional price.
They reversed this decision after only a few months!
It became clear that nobody wanted it, their customers just wanted their
machines painted in the same old green colour.
There was one notable exception, however: in the USA, this new colour was
very much liked, because it gave a touch of quality, since it was exactly
the same colour blue that IBM utilizes!
