Pat, believe it or not the 55000ppm is correct.  The confusion comes from 
the fact that the 5.5% is set with the smog pump hose clamped off.  The CO 
drops significantly with the air injection, down to the range of your meter.  
Please dont ask me the what the reading is with the smog pump working, its 
not been documented and probably not a good indication of carb mixture.

it! as for the advice on PPM I'm sure it must be different than 55000 that is
a 
deadly amount also my meter only goes to 2000 PPM  Pat 79 "B"
