When I did my rebuild the instruction was to start and run unloaded at
2000 rpm for 20 minutes to wear in the cam and lifters. I also recall
something about keeping the revs below 3k for some number of hours of
driving. During this time low RPM high load conditions (i.e. hill
climbing in high gear) would help seat the main bearings. I ran the car
for 30K then sold it so I don't know if any of this hurt or helped. It
shure ran good when I sold it.
