It was an option. You need a little adapter that screws in the side of the 
oil filter housing. The other hose connects to the fitting to the left of 
the distributor next to the oil pressure sender. If yoiu live in a hot 
climate it can really help keep your engine temp down.

My 79 doesn't have a oil cooler did it come with one orig
or did the DPO take it off? I don't see anyplace to plug it in on the oil
filter
housing,would I need a different housing or does the car even need one? my
presure is 70 at 2500 45~50 idle when hot it has 71000 mi on it.
