Greetings all. You've gotta love this MG fraternity!

Received a call Monday from Peter Osborn, an MG specialist I frequent here
(Village Green Auto. Love it! The company's delivery van is a Morris Panel.
Too cool!) to alert me to an MGBGT whose immediate fate was the crusher!

Turns out to be an engineless, fiberglass front fendered, tinted glassed,
rusted, but not-as-bad-as-many I've dragged home, '72 BGT - last on the road
in '80. Complete otherwise, so I grabbed it for a hundred bucks! (and that's
Canadian - about $70 US, exchange rates are H*ll!) It's still resting at the
salvage yard, thanks to an arrangement with the staff. They're going to let
me keep it there, so I can pluck it apart.

The windshield and hatch glass are shattered, unfortunately - however all
the sideglass is excellent. As is most of the chrome, trim, dash (which
didn't look cracked!). It appears to be beyond restoration, but it's a
treasure trove of MGB, and specifically BGT 'bits'.

Tomorrow morning, weather permitting, my son and are are going to venture
over for the first removal exercise.

GT folks - lemme know if there's anything you may be looking for....

Are there any other MGOC members on the list? If so, or you know someone who
is - check out the BGT converted to a V8, clad in the RV8 front end/rear
etc. Astonishing. Reminds me of the Sebring MGC GTs.

Hopefully a week away from the arrival of the much anticipated
engine/tranny. Here comes the learning curve. Ordered the gaskets and oil
seals today.

Spring must be coming - I got them 'dormant-since-November' MG vibes
happenin' and I hear the garage a-callin' (Can Glen, our recovering musician
use that?)

Have a great weekend everyone!

**PS - here in Canada, the government is introducing a $2 coin on Monday,
which will replace the Canadian 2 dollar bill, much as the 'Looney' coin
replaced the one dollar bill. (A 'Looney' due to the Loon - a bird,
inscribed on the 'tail' of the coin.)The new $2 coin, which has a polar bear
on it's face, was being pondered on our radio station's morning show. After
suggestions of 'doubloon', 'duece' etc, one listener called and stated that
the name of the new two dollar Canadian coin - was one US dollar! :)
