        Hi,

        I have a '73 BGT wish has suffered the same problem. Apparently, 
water traps in this area and thus rust is formed. Having lived in L.A. 
for 3.5 years, I cannot believe that rain induced rust is the answer to 
this one.

        ...Better call Mulder + Scully........
