I can vouch for that as far as owners of German cars go. I believe that
up until very recently, most big concours (the ones pronounced without the
"s") had Porsches in a separate class because of the level of restoration
(or over-restoration, depending on your view) was far in excess of any
other group of cars. The lengths these people go is amazing, including
pulling apart the entire car just before the event just to sanitize
everything again, down to the spotless nuts bolts and washers inside of
the engine (it's true, I've seen it). At the Porsche concours that I have
been, the judges stick their fingers everywhere, in all sorts of nooks and
cranies, trying to find a speck of dirt to subtract a point.
So, I can imagine what a $10,000 Midget would look like.
