Hi Charlie.

I saved this old message because I was going to installing the Crane
 XR700 EI on my MGB.

In the instructions, it says if you have a high performance coil
(with reduced resistance), you have to add a resistor (1.2 to 1.7 ohms).
Does the Lucas sport coil have lower resitance than the stock coil? I
don't have a multimeter sensitive enough to measure the resistance. The
stock coil supposedly has 3-4 ohms. When I installed the EI, I put the
stock coil back on. I was going to put the Sport coil back on whan I got
a resistor, but I'm not sure where to put it.

IS this resistor necessary? Would someone measure the resistance of their
sport coil?

Thanks
