Jason,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by scraping etc, however, I recently 
had noises coming from the rear of my Midget, which ended up to be the 
pinion oil seal near the drive flange in the diff. It was broken, and the 
noise became so loud it was unbearable on acc/deceleration. 

This may be something else to look at
