However, if you follow the Haynes manual reccomendations on how to put the 
drive together, then you will end up with a 'standard' arrangement. This 
relies on having the crank and camshafts in a known relationship and then 
being careful how the drive spindle is then introduced to the drive gear.

Chris,

You are talking apples and oranges. Gerry is talking about the drive
gear on the spindle where it contacts the camshaft and you're talking
the opposite end of the same distributor drive where it contacts the
distributor. YOU ARE BOTH RIGHT. But we only have one prize today, so
in the interest of fairness you both get absolutely nothing. Safety
