Interesting comment about velour seats. I had almost forgotten them.
I had velour in a 1975 Valiant Brougham I bought new. Had that car 12 years,
first as a family car and later a work car. The velour survived leaking baby
bottles and 150,000 miles of wear. As you say, it would be much better
sitting on that then vinyl on a sunny day. I'm not sure if it would fade in a
roadster exposed to direct light? The colors used to be limited to burgundy,
parchment and green at least as much as Chrysler was concerned. I think the
nylon won't take just any color dye. Is yours black?
One thing which didn't affect me but, would be a consideration for some...
this stuff is for non smokers only. A tiny spark burns that soft fuzz into a
brown, hard bead.
I had a friend with nice new Cordoba (remember those?). He was a heavy smoker
and the seat were parchment (cream color). In six months the interior was
just awful, covered with lots of little hard melted brown beads.
I'll remember your recommendation when I'm considering reupholstering my next
project. That velour always looked and felt great.
