It has been discovered that when drivers find themselves in an
emergency braking situation, although they jump on the brakes they
frequently fail to apply them as hard as they could, and hence some
collisions result that could have been avoided.
A manufacturer has come up with a system that senses a more rapid
application of the brakes than normal i.e. in an emergency braking
situation and automatically applies full braking pressure. Of
course, this has to be fitted in conjunction with ABS, and Mercedes
is reported to be fitting this to some top models.
