At this point, DON'T GUESS. Get under the car, and MEASURE the stroke
of the actuating rod from the slave cylinder while someone presses down
on the clutch pedal. You may just have an air bubble in the
line/cylinder, and you'll have to bleed the system. I can't remember
what the stroke is supposed to be, but it CANNOT be longer than the
slave cylinder, and should be about 1/2 of it's depth. There should not
be any free play between the rod, and the slave cylinder piston, and the
rod, and the release bearing mechanism.

Yer gonna hate me, but you'll have to separate the engine from the
transmission in order to gain access to the friction plate. If the disk
is only a little bit stuck, towing the car around in low (on pavement of
course) MIGHT work IF the clutch is releasing. A buddy of mine had the
same problem with his Morris Minor, and put it in reverse, hit the
clutch, and was towed ahead. Then he shifted to low, and was towed
ahead again, 'till it broke loose. A week later he changed the friction
disk, because he'd cracked the spiderin the friction disk...
