I removed and replaced my windshield a few years ago. I bought all new
rubber gaskets. I put the new windshield in the frame with a bit of RTV
(black). The windshield gasket fit the glass and frame pieces so well it
was a major pain to get the thing back together without breaking the glass.
Once together, there was no way any moisture was getting through that tight
assembly. The body to windshield gasket was folded. To reinstall the
assembly to the car, the gasket unfolds against the body. I did also use a
good bead of RTV under this seal; and on the side post seals. I've never
had a leak.
