You will need to replace the o-ring. Although I have done it with the carbs
on, I think it will be very difficult to do it that way, if you are not
familiar with it.

Besides, removing the carbs is not very difficult. 4 nuts, gas lines, and
the linkage. 

But since its leaking, the seal has probably deteriorated with age. Thus it
would be prudent to clean out the bowl and replace the needle and seat too.
Carb kits are cheap, and the basic rebuild kit with the above components is
less than $10.

It is fairly easy maintenace and important in keeping your car running at
its peak.

Metric? I think my nut was 3/8" but I haven't removed it lately either.
