Just got this from Thomas Mitchell and I know that he is not the only
one who has had this tank screen problem. Ken Regenfuse showed me a
melted plastic tank screen he had retrieved from a B when I visited
him in PA several weeks ago.

As for your fuel pump problem, I was wondering if some of my
experience's
would help.
I had somewhat the same problem (twice) and found that it was the
screens
in the tank. One was a plastic screen that
I guess had melted with the gas additives and one was a very rusty and
clogged screen. My brother had a similar
problems when the PO had used ???, doesn't matter, anyway we guess he
left on the small foil top of the bottle and
just pored whatever in, the foil would peal off and get inside the
tank.
What Dan found was about 4 of these foils in
the tank. They would get up against the screen and partially clog it,
when
you shut off the pump it would go away for a while, drove him nuts for
weeks.
I found mine my blowing compress air into the tank. It blew the plastic
screen right off, then all I had to do was fish it out.
hope this helps,
