The alternator on my '79 B recently broke/burnt out/stopped working and was
replaced by a garage. The new one also failed within about 100 miles. The
garage said it was a bad alternator and replaced it (free of charge). This
happened a number of times until I replaced the battery. The alternator now
seems to be OK. I thought an alternator had a current limiter in it, so can
anyone explain to me how a battery could cause an alternator to burn-out?
