Daniel,

It's part of your evaporative loss emissions system. Those hoses should go to
a little canister that is supposed to be and expanision tank and separate
liquid fuel from vapor (with the liquid being returned to the gas tank. 

If yours is missing and the hoses are laying there unconnected, this is not
good. You could end up with some gas in the trunk if your carburettors
malfunction. At the least, you will be putting fumes in trunk.

I's go to a wrecking yard and find one if someone on the Net doesn't come
back and offer one for sale.
