The inherint unstreetability of the 45DCOE is beacause of the desigh  of
the carb not its size. The 40 and 45 DCOE are the same design. Most of
the problems are dealing with idle. I ran a pair of 45's on my BMW 2002
while in germany and had no problems with them. If you don't wnat
civilized manners, just a really hot car, 45's have my vote along with a
few engine, camshaft mods.
