This is a symptom of a failure in the ignition circuit, either LT or HT, 
probably 
the LT in the area of the ignition switch or relay.  I say this because the 
ignition 
light glows/has glowed on every car I own/have owned between turning off the 
ignition and the engine coming to a stop.
