I've seen recommendations to use an oil that contains a seal-swelling 
compound, presumably to get a longer useful life out of the component.  
Not seen any reference to using it to 'repair' a unit that is already 
leaking.  One bit of logic says it might work, the other says the old 
seal is probably too hard to swell, which is one of the reasons it is 
now leaking.
