Peter, this question isn't directed specifically to you, since you
did the bodywork yourself, but your post reminded me of all the other
similar cases I've heard. (14 months in the shop for bodywork and
painting, etc.)
Is there ANY way to get welding/rust repair/bodywork/painting done
without our cars sucking hind tit to EVERY... OTHER... CAR... IN THE
SHOP!?!?!?!? I can understand that this kind of work isn't as
profitable as fender repair or $199 paint jobs, but sheesh, if it's
not being done for free by a friend, I expect it to be completed in a
timely manner (i.e., the new floor pans not rusting out before the
new paint's even on.) My money's as green as anybody else's, and if I
agree to pay the shop owner's price, it's not as if he's doing me a
favour by working on my car, now is it? In truth, I can save the long
jobs for when I'm deployed on an aircraft carrier for six months, but
how do the rest of you stand it? Then again, the 'B' is my daily
driver.
