Hi All,
         following along the thread of the 'copies' of Pommy cars by the
Japanese, allow me to share with you a part of the history of  M.G. and
Cecil Kimbers *study* of the Little French Car, LFC, the Rally, this is
described in the chapter on 'Road and Track'  [1930-1935] In the book MG by
McComb  ISBN 0 85045 310 0.

** Kimber had somehow acquired an example of a little-known French sports
car, the Rally, a most purposeful 1100 cc machine rather similar to the the
Brooklands Riley Nine in appearance. The chassis side-members were of
channel section and, apart from curving up over the front axle, were
straight for most of their length, the low lines being achieved by passing
the chassis beneath the rear axle. M.G. adopted this unusual arrangement to
build a prototype chassis, EX.120, which like the Rally, carried
centre-lock wire wheels on Rudge-type hubs.**Snip** Thus was evolved the
basic chassis frame that was to remain in use on M.G. Midgets for nearly
twenty years.**
