Trevor,
Regarding "Tubbed" cars, I saw an article in Car Craft about ten
years ago about a Pontiac T1000 that Rick Dobbertin built as a show
car. The rear wheels were so big, and the rear axle had to be
shortened so much that there was a photograph of both rear axles in a
shoebox! He said that the limiting factor on how wide the rear tires
could be was the width of the differential.
Very few of his cars are practical at all, but the work that he puts
into polishing and prepping is phenomenal. The Pontiac was blinding
to look at, but there was very little chrome. It was all polished
stainless steel.
