I just bought a Jaguar XJ-S with a blessed previous owner. The first owner
sold it to his next door neighbor, who sold it to her son, who is I guess 45
or so, who sold it me. In that time, since 1986, this car has never, ever,
been in the snow or rain or anything... I can tell because not only is the
car completely devoid of rust, the original paper stickers are still on the
wheels. It has been dealer serviced at all times, all of the bills are in
the owner's folder, along with the completed "Passport To Service". I
reviewed the bills and since 1986 the car has had the following problems:
Indicators wouldn't work over 85 degrees in temp.
Some bolts were loose on suspension
A small gas leak in trunk
And, FOUR MORE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, because of a problem with the
                 right hand side ASHTRAY!
This was truely a blessed previous owner, and while the Jaguar Mechanic
who looked at the car proclaimed it perfect, all things need time to be
proven! And, no, I haven't jinxed anything by saying this. I have
constantly said how wonderful and reliable my MG Magnette Mk. III, and it
continues to be wonderful and reliable. I will have owned it for two years
this spring, and total expenses: $3 for a set of generator brushes.

PS: Maybe I'm just lucky actually... I lost the only ignition key to the
Jaguar. Of all places ofcourse to loose the key, I did it at the Mall across
the street from the only Jaguar Dealer in the State of New Hampshire. I gave
them my VIN number and they were able to make a key to the numbers in thier
computer. I was seriously impressed, especially when they refused to charge
me for it.
