Don't be too quick on this. Don't know about a B, with this particular
problem, but I can attest to valve seals gobbling oil in a Mopar 440.
Recently my Interceptor started using copious amounts of oil. Now these are
oil gobbling engines to begin with, but a quart every 50 miles? Don't think
so. To top it off my oil pressure gauge started nose diving to 0 whenever
the car was idled for very long -- even when there was oil in it. So, I
thought, geez, bottom end on the pressure, and rings for oil burning, @#)*$
rebuild.
Finally figured out the sending unit was bad, no problem with pressure in
reality. Compression check showed no problems, so checked valve seals. Hard
as rock and cracked up pretty bad. Replace them and voila! Hardly burns any
oil at all. In fact, it appears to be exceeding factory standards, and that
is with a small leak from back seal and remote filter plate (active rust
proofing system, me thinks).
So two mostly unrelated problems combined to give dire, but false symptoms.
