Realitically you do not need to remove the carb to adjust the floats. 
Just the top. That's how I did it on mine when brand spankin new. 
Although removing the whole carb may be easier- don't know fur sure. If 
you can find a gasket set yea I would replace at that time - better safe 
than sorry.
